Agave spirits are on the rise, with tequilas having a headstart but mezcals now booming in popularity, too. Join us as we explore the world of tequilas and mezcals, and explain how they are related (very closely, as you’ll see), how they are made, and why you cannot wait for Remedy to open with a larger agave selection that Trifecta ever had!

SEE BELOW FOR CURRENT TEQUILA & MEZCAL TASTING LIST!
The history and variety of agave spirits is long and complex, but we will provide a short overview designed to educate and to inspire you to try different kinds. We want everyone to learn about the types and variances (and the reasons), to find tequilas and mezcals they like, and to appreciate the differences and nuances. As always, there will lots of discussion and debate, but there won’t be a test. We will bring back the whiteboard for recording the funniest comments…
Our tasting events are open to friends and their friends, but knowing approximate attendance will help us provide the best tasting experience. In addition, the generous hosts for this event would like to foster an intimate experience no more than 30 guests so that everyone can meet and converse with other guests. So, please RSVP below (and apologies for setting this up with so little notice!).
When & Where
Time & Date: 8-11PM on Saturday, June 29, 2024
Location: Chez Boisseau (360 Condominiums, Unit 3005)
Tasting Events “Rules”
The “rules” have been established and refined over 31 previous whiskey and “alt-whiskey” events, for maximum enjoyment.
- Several different tequilas and mezcals will be provided that cover a range of taste profiles for comparison. As always, if you wish to bring a bottle to expand our comparison set and share with friends, please do (not required!)–but if you do then you must take your bottle home with you to enjoy on your own later! (There will be labels and a list.)
- All tequilas and mezcals provided by the hosts and being shared by guests will be posted below as we learn about them (let me know in the comments).
- You do not have to love agave spirits (yet) to join us and have fun–just be willing to taste and learn a little. Some wine and beer will also be provided, but feel free to bring anything you want if you’re not (yet) into agave spirits. (Prediction: you will be.)
- There will be plenty of snacks but you should eat a full dinner beforehand if you’re serious about tasting many spirits.

RSVP
Let me know if you will attend by commenting below (with # !) so that we can plan appropriately. (Note: comments from first-time RSVPers won’t appear immediately on the page until I get a chance to approve them since bots have discovered my site… but I’ll be quick.) All I ask is that you RVSP here–all in one place–not to (any of my) 6 email accounts, by text, by phone call, through social media DMs, over Slack, by telegram, etc. 🙂 It helps me count and it shows others who is coming!
IMPORTANT: Be thoughtful about your safety and others’ (always). Make sure you have a designated driver or UBer/Lyft, or at least take small tastes (and even spit out) if you are driving. If you are not feeling well, please do not attend–there will be many future tastings!
I’m in, will need to see what interesting bottle I can find at the store to share.
Woohoo! Make sure it’s something you like, and if you need recs I would say Dona Vega or Lost Explorer espadin mezcals are good price performers!

So disappointed Annette and I will miss this Jay. Just too short notice. Please keep us on the list for the next one. We will reciprocate once our kitchen and downstairs remodel is complete (it has to start first, but that should be in a couple weeks).
